Welcome to my health and fitness blog – Fitness Focus.
My name is Becky and I’m a health and fitness enthusiast. I have always been in to health and fitness and have dabbled in a number of sports throughout the years. I sailed for the British National team back in 1997 and was the National swimming champion back in 1999. Since then, i have also done some cross-country running events and am an avid gym goer.
In 2019 i decided to take my love for the gym one step further and became a level 3 qualified personal trainer. Not only did i want to do it for myself to learn as much as i could about fitness, i wanted to be able to help others and pass on my knowledge. Plus, there is nothing better than seeing someone grow in confidence as they get an exercise, or start to see progress.
By the end of 2020, and after watching a few documentaries on Netflix, I changed to a 100% plant-based diet. I had already started cutting out a lot of meat from my diet months before this but wanted to take it one step further. I then decided to start cutting out dairy products as well as meat. My intention was never to go fully vegan as i didn’t think it would work for me. However, i made the decision towards the end of 2020 and i haven’t looked back. I feel so much better and more energetic, especially since cutting out dairy products.
Being vegan is actually a lot easier than i thought it would be, and the variety of foods available is just is great as not being vegan. However, you feel so much better for it! Yes, it does take a bit of getting used to at the start and you have to research new recipes. Once you have the hang of it though, it’s amazing. I won’t go back to eating meat or dairy!
Over the last few years, i’ve become increasingly aware of the environmental impact we’re having on our planet and how our choices affect the environment around us. Choosing to eat 90% plant based and organic is part of this change. Not only for my own health, but for the good of the planet as well. We’ve made changes in our home to be more eco-friendly and live in a less toxic environment.
- Using bamboo toothbrushes instead of plastic ones.
- Switching household cleaners for more natural options.
- Buying local produce where possible.
- Being as plastic free as possible.
- Growing vegetables at home.
- Planting wildflowers to help the bees.
- Waiting to use the dishwasher until it’s full.
- Not eating meat.
There is so much we can all be doing to help and it’s something we will continue to research and implement as and when we can make more changes.
Being healthy is everything to me. Both on the inside and on the outside. It’s not just about what we eat. It’s about having a healthy home environment, a healthy mind, making healthy food choices, and most importantly a healthy planet to live on.
Back in 2018 I stopped buying mainstream beauty products as i didn’t want to put products with chemicals in on my skin and in my body. I’d read a lot about the dangers of chemicals such as – Parabens and SLS and decided i wanted to cut these out of my life. Over the past few years I’ve gone almost 100% natural with the products i use on my body. I don’t wear make-up and my skincare routine is very minimal and basic. If i wouldn’t put it in my body, it won’t be going on my body!
I already have a well established UK lifestyle blog where I’ve been blogging since 2014 about everything from – blogging, and business, to – home, garden and healthy living.
Fitness Focus is a place we can write about our passion for health and fitness and try to help others with our knowledge in this area.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this health and fitness blog.
